Paola & Paul

We were thrilled this past weekend to assist with Paola and Paul’s wedding at The Houstonian. The day began at The Houstonian’s Spa, Trellis, where the bridal party had their hair and makeup done. After a fun morning at Trellis it was off to the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in downtown Houston for the ceremony. Following a beautiful ceremony the new bride and groom left the church in a vintage, ivory Rolls- Royce.

Paola and Paul had a beautiful Mexican/Columbian reception, with gold and ivory décor. On the tables were elegant jeweled centerpieces made by Darryl and Co. However, the chocolate groom’s cake topped with bacon from Who Made the Cake stole the show. After a delicious meal from The Houstonian, there was dancing and live music provided by The Austin Nines. Later in the evening came one of the most exciting parts of the reception; a surprise appearance by Mariachi 85,  an authentic mariachi band.  Guest fare welled the couple with their favorite Mexican Ballads sang by the Mariachis.

A Hunters Reception

We got honored to assist in planning a rehearsal dinner for Frank and Brooke at Eddie V’s.  The Braly’s (parents of the groom) were wonderful parents of a  past groom Doctor Houston Braly who married the beautiful and brilliant Doctor Kristina Braly.  Kristina and Houston, were married at Rainbow Lodge last May.  Many of you may know Kristina through her awesome blog Pretty Shiny Sparkly.  Frank was a hunter since birth and Brooke is a talented Houston artist so we decided to bring the outdoors in and create a fun rustic outdoor tablescape.

Lori Holley with Special Arrangements did a fabulous job in recreating our vision.  Each arrangement was propped on top of a wooden plank.  B’s were burnt into the wood for the couples last name and our favorite Textured flowers were used. Star of Bethlehem, Kale, Artichoke, Craspedia, Scabiosa Pods, Hydrangea, Mondial Roses, Eschevaria (succulents), dried lotus pods and dried mushrooms finished off this Hunter’s Reception.  It paired perfectly with the cream swiss polk a dot linen and wooden chargers from Elegant Beginnings.  What more can we say except……. LOVE LOVE LOVE!  Holly Hoyt captured the perfect pictures of the evening.

Welcoming Baby with Style – Today’s look…CHIC!

Looking to plan a baby shower that is out of the box or shall we say, a bit more modernized?   Then you have come to the perfect place!  In the process of planning a baby shower, we have found that they have certain stigmas that elude the essence of your typical baby shower staples: pacifiers, rattlers and mysterious diaper games!  This does not always have to be the case, especially with the clients that we have been working with recently.  We (Occasio) have been lucky enough to have been given many opportunities to engage with this concept of executing a baby shower and coming up with the latest and freshest ideas of throwing a modern day baby soiree. This week, we will be focusing on a few baby shower themes that we have done in the past.

Here is our first example of how we have created the look of the not so typical looking baby shower.  Très chic!
